Our Cat Tales Anthology is In The Works. Submit a Short Story NOW!

The initial feedback for our first anthology, "Phone," has been positive, so we've decided to launch a second one.

The new one is called "Cat Tales" and has a target publication date of 2Q 2025. There will be a payment for stories we include in the book, although it won't grant you a lifetime of idle riches. Please visit our Open Calls page for more info.

Here's our first-cut description of Cat Tales. Please note that it will likely be fine-tuned as we get closer to the launch:

We love cats! Little kitty cats and big scary wildcats, and all cats in between. Tell us a cute story about your cat, or go bold and write about Bastet, the Egyptian goddess with a cat head. Tell us a scary story about a world taken over by cats, where humans exist as playthings or slaves, or a future of hybrid cat-people living alongside plain ole' humans in an uneasy and temporary peace. ​ We welcome stories told from a cat's point of view, or a cat tail's POV, or a cornered mouse's point of view. You name it, we'll take a look at it, as long as it's catty. ​ Submissions must be between 1,000 and 7,500 words. Send your story to us by March 15, 2024. Publication is scheduled for 2Q 2024.

Send your short story submission to cattales@lakeEerieBooks.com. Word or .pdf format only. Please put "Short story," the name of your story in CAPS, and your name in the header. Be sure to include this info on the first page of your document:​

• Title

• Number of words

• Your name or pen name exactly as you want it to appear in print

• Your contact information, including your Paypal email address so we can send payment if your story is included in the published anthology.

• The following sentence: "I am the original author and own all rights to this story."
