Developmental Editing
We have very experienced developmental editors on the team. In a developmental edit, we'll review your manuscript and provide comprehensive, detailed feedback on your theme, pacing, structure, plot, characters, setting, main conflict and resolution, voice, and theme. We’ll identify areas where you can improve the story's flow, transitions, and descriptions. The output of a developmental edit is two-fold: an editorial letter with "big picture" suggestions and feedback (3-5 pages), and detailed comments added directly into your document using Track Changes. Cost depends on several factors but is typically $25 to $30 per thousand words.
Line Editing
A line edit entails going through your manuscript line by line to review sentence structure, story flow, grammar, word choices and prose quality, and punctuation. A good line edit is much more than proofreading: it's a tightening up and refining of the whole manuscript one sentence at at time. The output of a line edit is a new copy of your manuscript with detailed comments in Track Changes. Our fee is $60/hr for line editing. Many factors can influence how long a line edit will take, which we’ll discuss with you. We’ll complete the first 500 words for free so you can review our work and make sure it meets your needs before proceeding.
Cover Design
Look at the cover designs on our site - they're beautiful! All of our covers are designed in-house. We can design a cover of the same quality for you. We do not sell off-the-rack, pre-made book covers; every cover is custom-made for a particular book, using Adobe Creative Cloud. Our designers take their time to get to know the book and the author's vision. A cover design project includes up to three revisions. Needless to say, this kind of work costs more than buying an off-the-rack cover. Our cost is $600-900, depending on the project.
Our designers will develop a layout for your book that gives it a clean, professional "Big 5" look. This includes:

chapters starting either after the last chapter or always on a right page (your choice)

optional elements such as licensed art, artistic embellishments, etc.
Depending on your needs (for instance, e-publishing versus print-on-demand), the output can include epub and mobi files, a PDF in your specified size (e.g. 5x8"), or both.
The base cost is $350, but if you choose add-ons such as licensed art, it can be a bit higher.

We can develop an outline and character sheets, help you brainstorm, coach you through the writing process, review and edit your work as you go, serve as beta readers, or put you in touch with other betas. We can even assist with the writing itself, either as a named coauthor or uncredited partner. We do require that authors be actively involved in the creation of their book, regardless of who is doing the typing.
